Reagans, Welch Receive All-Conference Honors

The Great South Athletic Conference announced its 2009-10 women's basketball awards Tuesday. Spelman sophomore Jessica Reagans (Annapolis, MD) has been named to the GSAC All-Conference Team and freshman Tiana Welch has been named to the GSAC All-Freshman Team.
In 14 conference games, Reagans averaged 14.4 points/game, which ranked her second in the conference behind teammate Shanda Kennedy (Philadelphia, PA) with 14.6 ppg. Reagan's 3-pt field goal percentage (.408) ranked her fifth in the conference and she was eighth in the conference in minutes played/game (30.8). Reagans scored a career-high 32 points against non-conference opponent Judson College on Feb. 15 to help the Jaguars down the Lady Eagles in overtime, 83-77.
Tiana Welch (Woodstock, GA) averaged 8.0 ppg in conference games and 9.0 ppg overall for the 2009-10 season. Last weekend against Bennett, Tiana helped the Jaguars defeat the Belles by posting 16 points and 11 rebounds. She scored a career-high 22 points on Jan. 30 against Judson. She ranked 12th in the conference with 18 made three-point baskets and her .273 three-point field goal percentage ranked her 15th in the conference.
The conference also recognized several Jaguars for their academic achievements.
Sterling Mitchell (Orlando, FL), Jessica Reagans, and
Shana Rochester (Baltimore, MD) were all named to the GSAC All-Academic Team for maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.25.
